Skrive blok, in Danish means, "witting pad". This could describe any blog, but since mine originally began as a means to write about Steve and I working in Greenland, It has since morphed into being about me, writing about being. Whether we are here or there, skiing or growing food or making some-things out of no-things, this is my humble attempt at being a writer. An exercise for my mind. A bunch or words. A Skrive Blok.

Blogging.

Steve and I were sitting around the dinner table with our friends, Carl and Lorena when I uttered the word, "blog". I was not choking.
(Blog, by definition means, weblog).
A weblog allows one to broadcast their journal over the world wide web (privately or publicly) for anyone that is interested.
As those of you who know me know, I was once a prolific letter writer but this has faded completely away with the era of email. However, I have not stopped writing journals. This brings me back to the dinner table;
"Blog" I said.
Carl said, " I could help you set up your own blog account in less than one hour".
This afternoon I rode my bike over the river and through the woods (rain, hail, skunk cabbages just beginning to emerge from the ick) to the Homestead where Carl logged on to blogger.com and in less than an hour had me up and running.
So, I am now in the throes of learning to blog.
My hopes are that through this cyber portal, you may be able to follow along with us as Steve and I prepare to embark once more for our working adventures in Greenland.

Tonight's picture is of Kangerlussuaq, (pronounced ; kanger lu shu ack) Greenland as we left it last November. Kangerlussuaq is the Greenlandic name for this long fjord which the Danes re-named, Sondre Stromfjord. Since Greenland declared home rule from the Danish colonists it has been officially re-re-named , kangerlussuaq, though many older Danes, and most American military lovingly refer to the place as "sondre-strom" or, simply "Sondie".

The shot is looking west down the fjord toward Davis Straight in the North Atlantic. Of course, it is frozen most of the year round.
